What Kind of Church Are We?

I've had these two phrases bouncing around in my head for a few days. The concepts are clear and simple. The question is do we understand what the answer we give about ourselves means? Are we focused outward on the world or inward at our own needs? Which describes CRMC the best?

I would say as a generally rule the American church has been extremely inward focused. We spend a great deal of time and money keeping our programs going, our main growth comes from attracting other believers, from other churches. We hear good teaching and preaching, we sing songs and and give our money. At the end of the day, month or year we are very much the same as we were before. Until we start living out our own ministry,(this is a personal thing not just a "church" thing) we will just keep on getting feed without growth. I am not being critical of any one person but rather the church structure we have all grown up in. I am so bold because I am a product of this. After 40 years in church I have failed to live out the great commission in "my world" while at the same time I have been an outgoing and faithful church member. I thank God that our Pastor sees this need, and is willing to change the status-quo to see growth come to our body. I look forward to the comming year at CRMC.
